HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969.
CONDITION
The photos and videos are taken before this watch was serviced.
The brick bracelet is long, stamped 1040 on the clasp and with 518 endlinks, may be a later addition or may have been an option when new. Omega model codes start with a 3 if the watch was a men’s bracelet watch, and inside the caseback is only marked 168.017. The 6 indicates an automatic with centre second, and the 8 is a waterproof chronometer with date, so they are correct, and it is not uncommon to find two different model codes in Omega watches depending on if it was sold on leather or a bracelet.
The case on this Constellation is gold capped – if you see the back of the case you see the steel lugs. The dial has a few small marks but is not repainted (it is not uncommon to find Constellations that have had a dial paint). The crown is signed, as is the crystal. The calibre 564 movement is a treat. The quick set date is working, which works with a pull of the crown. This watch has just been serviced, so is running well
