A 1969 Omega Geneve, with the fantastic Omega calibre 565 movement, presented in 1973.  Model reference 166.070.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969.  The case back is engraved for a long service award for working at City Tramways for 35 years, all the way from 1938 to 1973 when it would have been presented.  Either 1969 or 1973 would be a valid birth year watch.

CONDITION

The calibre 565 is considered one of Omega’s finest.  It was widely used, as Omega show on their own website here, and sadly many Geneve models were stripped for this movement to use in the more valuable Seamaster 300 watches.  This watch has a quick set date, which works by pulling the crown outwards.  The golden dial, set into the 20 micron gold plated case, looks stunning despite a couple of very small marks.  We have fitted a new genuine Omega crystal to show off the dial, and the crystal is signed in the centre as it should be.  The case does have a few marks, especially on the lugs, but keep the original signed crown.  The strap shown here is a lightly used one, but we can swap this for another colour if you prefer.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
