This large Technos World Time has a Super Compressor case from one of the best case makers, Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA)
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the date stamp on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968.
CONDITION
You can read all the technical details on the case here, but in short these highly waterproof cases were designed to use the water pressure at depth to make the case tighter still. Clever stuff, and Technos were not the only ones to use the Super compressor case – Blancpain, IWC, Girard-Perregaux, JLC, Zenith and others all adopted the cases. Typically this has two crowns, with the upper crown turning an internal bezel that displays the names of various different world cities so you can calculate the time there. Unusually (but not uniquely) Technos didn’t use the standard cross hatched crowns of most Super Compressor cases, but instead both crowns on this watch are signed with the T for Technos. Inside you will find an ETA 2472 automatic movement, which has semi quickset date too. The case is in rather good condition, with just a few little scratches but with the original graining clear. The dial is very clean too, and the hands are straight and original too. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
