The Anfibio was a waterproof sports watch from Roamer, and features their patented case design.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the stamped paperwork that came with this watch we can accurately date this watch to being sold in September 1968.
CONDITION
Anfibio translates to Amphibian, and while no vintage watch should still be considered waterproof the unique case design for Roamer watches has helped keep this in great condition. The case back numbers for Brevete (patent) show how proud Roamer were of their inventions. The steel part of the case holds the movement and it all pushes through completely, keeping everything sealed nicely. This watch still wears the original acrylic crystal too, sign with an r in the centre (as is the crown). The movement is the 17 jewel in house MST430, which is all running sweetly. The 20 micron gold plated case is very good, with just the very tips of the lugs showing wear. The dial is brilliant, with a slight gold hue to the silver. It is also marked for Promethium (pM) lume. This wasn’t widely used, as the half life was very short (2.62 years, compared to Tritium at 12.7 years), meaning the lume would stop glowing very quickly. The only real sign of age is the seconds hand has some pitting. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
