A subtle gold watch, this 1968 Omega De Ville is a classic square watch meeting all the ‘rules’ a dress watch should. Model reference 111.5071.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968. The London hallmark on the inside of the case back is also for 1968.
CONDITION
Some gold watches are made to impress others, whereas this is made for the owner to enjoy and maybe others don’t even notice. This highly original watch has a 9k solid gold case, made by Omega themselves (the inside of the case is stamped OWC, not Dennison or DS&S). The size is not ostentatious, instead it just does everything with class, The hand wound movement is Omega’s 17 jewel calibre 620, adjusted to two positions, and wound via the signed crown. The dial is a captivating deep gold, almost brown colour that is most unusual. The dial is original, and just has a few marks from age here and there, mainly around the edges. The case hasn’t been engraved, and clips together nicely. The leather strap is used, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. We kept it on as it particularly suits the watch. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and crystal.
