The best Ultra-Chron in the World? Possibly, especially as it has just had an expensive full service by Longines. Model reference 8360.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968.
The Ultra-Chron range were designed from the outset to have the best possible movements fitted, and should really have been called ultra chronometers to make this clear. That has not stopped Longines from recently resurrecting the name, and you can now buy a new Ultra-Chron from £3,150. However the previous owner of this vintage watch sent this watch back to Switzerland, and over £1,000 later the watch was returned fully serviced with a new crystal and date wheel fitted (we have the spare parts returned too). That means the 431 calibre movement, beating at 36,000 bph, is running superbly. We have not taken the case back off as we do not wish to invalidate the warranty by doing so. Cosmetically it is difficult to fault too, with the heavy gold case feeling reassuringly weighty. The leather strap is stamped Longines and like new, and has the signed gold plated buckle too.
This watch will be supplied with the Longines service case, service papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
