HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968.
CONDITION
The generation 1 Dynamic was talked about as being the first ergonomically designed watch for the human wrist. They certainly are comfortable, and the space age design matched the era of the space race perfectly. There were no fewer than 24 different dial configurations, but the no date arabic style numerals is one of the rarer ones, and being a ladies watch which is also rarer to find it is a combination we haven’t seen before. The case is made from one block of stainless steel by Lascor Case Factory of Lombardy, Northern Italy, who Omega used to entrust more technical case designs with. The movement is accessed by removing the crystal with a special tool (widely available). The case has ‘radial adoucissage’ graining decoration, and while this graining is showing some scratches and marks it is better than the over polished cases we sometimes see (but do not buy). Inside the movement is the Omega calibre 630, a 17 jewel hand wound movement with two adjustments which is working perfectly. These earlier movements are generally preferred to the later 1000 series movements, and because the Dynamic case takes some experience to open not all sellers will tell you which movement is inside. The dial is good, original with just a few marks. The acrylic armour tensioned glass is new. The bracelet, which was optional when new, has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. It does show a few marks consistent with wear but is a good length and will fit most wrists. This ladies Omega Dynamic is an ideal choice for those who want a quality but slightly quirky watch, from a time when many designs were conservative.
