An Argonaut from Certina, with a chunky stainless steel case, is always going to be popular.  Model reference 5301 187.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968.

CONDITION

This watch has a dark grey dial, quartered very feintly with a very thin red line, white hour markers and white hands.  This makes it very legible to read indeed, and as a design it works very well.  The dial is original and all in good shape.  The 35mm case wears a little larger thanks to the squared off corners – the watch takes up more space on the wrist so will feel bigger.  There are a few dings on the case, and it is unpolished so expect surface scratches as well as the original graining.  The manual wind movement is the Certina 25-651, a 17 jewel calibre with semi quickset date.  All features are working as expected.  The strap is new and a great match for the dial, but you could ask for a different colour if you preferred.  We have found an advert for the Argonaut from the Vintage Certina website and include that in our photos for comparison

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
