A nice, clean 1968 Bulova Accutron with an original period Bulova kangaroo strap and buckle to match.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968.
CONDITION
The Accutron can be compared to the Betamax video recorder. It is better quality, but ultimately lost out to a cheaper rival – instead of VHS it was Quartz that killed the electronic hummer movements. But they have a great history, from space travel to that super smooth seconds hand. This movement is the reason that Bulova still use the tuning fork logo on their watches today.
This 1968 Bulova has the 218D movement, which is working well. The quick set date is working – you don’t pull the crown out at all to adjust the date on these. This one also has hacking seconds. The stainless steel case has a few marks around the lugs, and we have added a lightly used period correct Bulova Accutron strap and buckle that we had to really bring everything together. (And is something that collectors would love to buy separately, but we will only sell this with the watch.) The hands and hour markers have a blue paint to them, which is more noticeable on the photos than in real life.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
