A solid gold Rolex Precision dress watch with a distinct case design, which represents good value for a Rolex.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the London hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1967.

CONDITION

Like many gold watches intended for the UK market the case of this Rolex Precision was made int he UK by DS&S.  David Shackman and Sons made case for many top end brands, as import duty for complete gold watches to the UK at this time was very punitive, so most brands imported movements and partnered good case makers in the UK.  The case design here is distinctive, with the bezel and lugs apparently carved into a pattern to make the light shimmer off the case more.  It doesn’t sound much, but it is a very effective design tweak.  Inside the case is the Rolex 1215 hand winding movement, powered via the signed crown.  This is all working well.  The golden dial has a couple of small marks, but nothing immediately off putting.  The buckle is also signed Rolex, but this is a gold plated item and has lost some of the plating.  The leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
