This Omega Century has the calibre 601 hand wound movement, along with a service receipt for more than we are asking for the watch.  Model 131.019

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the in house movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1967.

CONDITION

The dial is evenly spotted with patina.  This will turn some buyers off, but others love it.  We say it can only be original once, so we don’t get dials painted.  The very expensive service was carried out in August 2014, and the watch is still running well as you would expect.  The crown is an Omega one, but the buckle is a later replacement.  The clip on case back is signed on the inside, and once removed reveals a very nice movement, complete with swan neck fine adjustment.  The case back does have tool marks all over it, shown in the photos.  The 20 micron gold plated case is showing some wear on the lug tips, but overall isn’t bad at all.  It appears to be pink gold plated, especially when seen against the yellow gold plated crown, which does give a warm glow to the watch.

The Century sub branding is peculiar.  Omega had their Century in 1948, and celebrated this with the Centenary models.  But then they started using the Century sub brand, for reasons we are not aware of.

This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
