HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this movement to being made in 1966, and the hallmark on the buckle is also for 1966. But the case is hallmarked for 1967, so the components could not have been joined until that date.
CONDITION
There is a identical buckle made in 9k gold by MWF for Omega on sale on Chrono24 currently for £378, plus £105 shipping to the UK. While we think that is expensive, there are people that want their watches to be complete. Likewise you could spend more buying an original Omega leather strap, and the inner and outer boxes. Or you could buy a watch that has kept everything together like this example.
The movement is Omega’s calibre 620, which is ideal for a dress watch being just two hands and manual wind to make the watch slimmer. It is running well. The dial is crisp and clean, but in some lights you can see a smell dent near 5, the hands straight, and the case has no damage (unless you count the nicely engraved case back saying B.H.J to D.W. We do not know who these people are.). The case was made by Omega themselves, whereas often these were made by authorised third parties like DS&S. Even the signed crown is still present. The heavy bezel shows no dinks and this does wear slightly larger than the dimensions suggest.
