HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1967.
CONDITION
In 1983 Longines joined Omega in the Swatch companies portfolio, but before that they were probably each others biggest rivels. The Admiral range would go head to head against the Seamaster, both having waterproof cases and appealing to people who wanted a quality but sporty watch. This example is in very good condition. The stainles ssteel case has just the smallest of marks, and retains the original crown. The dial is excellent, with a fine lined pattern elevating it from more plain designs. The hands are also original, straight and true. The calibre 501 automatic movement was originally a Record design, adopted by Longines after Longines acquired Record. It has seventeen jewels and a semi quickset date function, and all is working well. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
