The Citizen Homer was named after the ancient Greek poet, as was Homer Simpson! Model reference E51205a.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1967.
CONDITION
The Homer range of manual wind watches ran from 1960 to 1980, and was the everyday watch of many. The manual wind movement, a Citizen 0271, was designed to be robust over being pretty and finely finished, and it is running well now. The case, with a screw down case back, is in good order and the dial is very clean – both in design and condition. The case is a little larger than most Swiss watches from this period. The polished hands and hour markers have no lume, so look as good now as they did in 1967. The bezel is only plated, but wear is minimal. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and while the clasp isn’t signed and is a probable replacement the folding clasp is stamped Citizen 18-8. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and bracelet folding clasp.
