A solid gold Men’s Smiths Astral watch with the 17 jewel movement from 1966. Never engraved.

From the London hall mark on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1966.

The watch has one particular issue, so let’s deal with that immediately. The second hand is missing, and the shaft it fits onto doesn’t appear to be there either. This is not an uncommon issue on this movement, so it looks to have been removed to ensure the watch can still run as normal, just telling the time with two not three hands. We have priced the watch to account for that. The rest of the watch is good, with the case being straight and unpolished. The strap may be the original, so we have left that on, but you could have a new strap instead if you prefer. The movement is working well, albeit with two hands, and the calendar function. The crown is worn, but still reasonably easy to operate. The case back has not been engraved, whereas the majority of these watches were given as long service awards.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
