This Seiko Sealion watch has that name because of the symbol on the case back, showing it was water proof.  Model reference 13079

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in October 1966.

CONDITION

The most obvious design feature of the watch is the unusual case.  Made from stainless steel, with a screw down case back, the almost oval shape has hidden lugs for a 20mm strap, which was wide by the standards of the day.  The case seems to have a very light polish, so some marks remain but the edges are still crisp.  The movement is the Seiko 6205B, a 24 jewel automatic wind only calibre that is running well and has quick set date, allowing it to be worn in rotation with other watches easily.  The dial is pretty clean, but not perfect with some very small marks.  The prominent hour markers stand very proud of the dial, and have cross cut into the top to create bevels that catch the light.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
