This Omega was a Military issued watch to the Afghanistan Air Force after being made in 1966.  The emblem is on the case back.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We can date this perfectly to being made in 1966 by the serial number on the original Cal. 601 manual wind movement.

CONDITION

The case back shows the logo of the Afghan air force, with a colour logo shown in our photos to show.  This would have been specially made for the AAF, as the Seamaster logo is off centre to allow for the AAF logo.  The watch is a nice example, overall quite clean.  There is some paint flaking on the dial edge between 8 and 11, which looks worse on the photos than on the wrist.  The case is straight save for a small graze near nine, and the movement runs well and was serviced not long ago.  There is a small mark on the dial near 4, but overall this watch is impressive and very desirable.  The watch will be fitted with a new black leather strap, and comes with a presentation certificate showing the year of manufacture.  Military watches are usually very collectible.
