One of two very similar Omega De Ville models we have acquired at the same time, this one has the black dial.  Model reference 161.014.

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1966.  This range was first launched in 1966 according to Omega’s own website.

It is unusual to see square automatic watches, but one of the more famous ones would be the Zenith Respirator, as worn by John F. Kennedy.  This Omega uses their own calibre 671, a 24 jewel automatic that was adjusted to two positions for better accuracy.  The stainless steel case is in very good order, as is the matte black dial.   The crystal is the signed original, with a small Ω logo in the centre.  There is what appears to be a defect in the crystal near eleven – you can not feel this with your fingernail, and looks to be in the acrylic material, but it is minor.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
