With a clean dial and a nicely done 1966 inscription this solid gold Omega has a lot going for it.  Model reference 131.5016

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we know this was made in 1965.  The hallmark on the inside of the case back shows this was assayed in Birmingham in 1965/66 and the inscription shows it was presented in 1966.

CONDITION

This is a very classy watch.  The size is lovely for a period dress watch, and the dial and case offer simplicity of design that is hard to do.  The case is made by Dennison. shown with the ALD stamp above the hallmark.  The movement is Omega’s calibre 601, a nicely finished 17 jewel hand winder which was adjusted to two positions when new (a sign of quality, as is the microadjustment).  It is all running sweetly.  The dial looks great from a distance, but with a loupe you can see some pitting.  The leather strap is stamped Omega and has a later Omega buckle fitted too.  The strap has some scuffs and can be swapped for a standard leather strap if preferred, and we would transfer the buckle to the new strap too.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
