A rarely seen ladies Longines automatic watch – the vast majority are manual wind.  Model reference 6824

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1966.  The import hallmark on the inside of the back case is also for this year.

CONDITION

The movement is a Longines 14.17, and the 17 jewel automatic movement is a rare thing in a ladies watch.  Most ladies watches tended to be manual wind, with the Omega Ladymatic being the exception to the rule.  Apart from the technical difficulties of making an automatic movement fit into a small case, it is difficult to understand why more makers didn’t produce automatic movements?  This watch can also be hand wound, and it is running well.  The dial is very good, and the case difficult to fault too.  The case is stamped made in Switzerland by Longines for Baume & Co, the UK importers of Longines watches at the time.  The crown looks worn in the photos, but with small watches like this enlarged photos show things that are difficult to see with the naked eye.  The lizard skin strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.  This is a quality watch from a quality company in its prime.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
