This Girard-Perregaux gold watch is fully serviced and still retains the original box.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the London assay mark for 9k gold on the DS&S made case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1966.

CONDITION

Girard-Perregaux are a favourite premium brand, as they have been making watches since 1791 and are true pioneers of the craft.  The prices reflect this, as you would need several thousand pounds to buy any of their collection new.  But here is an opportunity to buy a Girard-Perregaux gold watch, which has been fully serviced, for a fraction of that cost.  The case is made by David Shackman and Sons, who also made cases for Rolex during this period (gold watches had to pay a heavy import tax at this point in time, so the norm was to import the movement and use an English made case from either DS&S, Dennison or someone similar.)  The dial is clean and has applied hour markers and GP logo, which are also likely to be gold, as are the hands.  The movement is the Girard-Perregaux calibre 26.29, a handing winding 17 jewel movement based on an AS ebauche, and the strap a vintage Hirsch leather affair.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
