A fantastic find. This Eterna-Matic 3000 is great condition, with box, outer box, papers and even the hangtag instructions!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1966. The paperwork shows the watch was sold in 1969. Either year can be considered a valid birth year watch.
The watch is in great condition. The dial is original and untouched is very clean with barely any marks visible with the naked eye. All the lume plots are still in place. The crown is not original and it sits proud of the case by about 1mm, but it is fully functioning including the pull quick set date. This watch is fitted with the 1500K Eterna movement, which later became the ETA 2892 (Eterna’s movement division was ETA (ETernA) before it was sold off). It is a very slim movement, which allows a nice thin case. The case is stainless steel topped with an 14k gold cap and bezel. The strap is new, but this watch would also suit a brown strap to dress it down if required – strap changes are made easier by the watch having drilled lugs. We have found a picture of an advert from 1969 that shows the gold version.
This watch will be supplied with the original box, outer box, guarantee and hang tag instructions as well as our Certificate of Authenticity.
