A classic, simple men’s Tissot dress watch that can positively be identified as made in 1965. Model reference 42042-2.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1965.
CONDITION
If you like the phrase Less is More, then this could be ideal. This 1965 watch is simple as first, but has some finer details not immediately noticeable. The case for example is a front loader – the movement is accessed by removing the crystal and the retaining ring rather than via the case back. This design is generally considered more secure, and it also prevents unqualified people from taking the back off to have a look at the movement. This inside of the case back does have several service marks engraved, so experienced watchmakers have been in here before. The other small detail is the ring pattern on the dial, much like an LP, which does make the dial shimmer slightly. The case is 20 micron gold plated, with just the tips of the lugs showing any wear (and it looks worse in the photos than in real life). The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
