HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1965.
This is a classic design. The dial is all original when compared to the MOY Test and other factors, such as the T SWISS T for tritium, and most importantly the print is raised rather than flat. Many Connie dials are badly restored, so despite the damage near nine (which looks like a dial foot has bent the dial) this is still highly desirable. The movement is Omega’s calibre 551, a 24 jewel chronometer automatic with micro adjustment, which is all running nicely. The steel case with screw down case back has those distinctive lugs, and is unpolished. The signed acrylic crystal has some marks around the edges, but the main focal point is clean and we decided to keep the originality rather than swap the crystal. The leather strap is used and has a weathered look, which just seems to suit the watch. If you prefer a new leather strap, possibly a different colour, then this can be swapped for you – just let us know when you order the watch.
