This men’s vintage Certina Blue Ribbon is in wonderful condition and is very wearable. Model reference 5806 102
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1963. You can also see the watch listed in the 1964 catalogue here with a slightly different dial at 230 DM, which equates to roughly £430 in today’s money.
CONDITION
The watch looks and wears very well. This Blue Ribbon has a very clean dial, with minimal marks, and the hands and hour markers show no signs of tarnishing. The movement is an in house Certina 25-651, which also has semi quick set date by moving the hands from midnight – 23:00- midnight, is a 27 jewel automatic with fine adjustment. Like all Certina’s of this period, this movement is beautifully finished and this example runs well. The case is a great size and only shows minimal wear on the lug tips. The case also has a screw on case back in stainless steel. The leather strap is new and could be switched easily for a different colour – the drilled lugs make strap changing easy.
