This gold presentation watch from the Queens Jewellers Garrard was given by Dunlop to a Mr C. Detheridge.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the Birmingham hall mark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1962.

CONDITION

The Mayfair jewellers Garrard are a company that have a long and prestigious history, such as jewellery Queen Elizabeth wore on here wedding day, making the gold cup for winning at Ascot (and the Americas Cup), and if you get a knighthood then the medal also comes from Garrard.   This is top notch, so when we get the chance to buy a Garrard watch we will.  While Garrard didn’t make the watch, they did specify the best.  So Garrard got Dennison to make the case, and made sure it had drilled lugs to make strap changing easier.  The manual wind movement was imported from Switzerland from ETA, and is decorated despite being hidden by the solid gold case back.   While we do not know who made the dial, it has survived very well and is clean.  The sword hands are blued.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
