The men’s vintage Envoy watch is in such nice condition we think it may never have been worn.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork we can accurately date this watch to being sold on Christmas Eve 1962. The paperwork just mentions ‘watch’ but it is clearly of the right period and we have no reasons to suspect it is not original. 1962 also fits perfectly the production dates of the movement.
CONDITION
This Envoy watch is powered by an AS1700, 17 jewel automatic movement that is running like new. These are decent movements, also used by brands such as Pierce and Alpina. If you hadn’t heard of Envoy, it was a registered brand of Cortebert Watch Company, which is better known as CWC. One of the main reasons we don’t think this watch was worn is the Fixo-flex expanding bracelet. Normally we throw these away, as they are full of dirt and detritus and a nightmare to clean even with an ultrasonic bath, but this one is sparkling clean. That matches the condition of the case and screw down case back too, and the general impression is the watch was sat in the case for many years. If the expanding bracelet is not for you then we can fit a replacement leather strap, and given the dial and case neutral colours a different coloured strap makes a big difference to this watches appearance. We have snapped a few different colours to show this. The only real sign of age on this watch are the hands are slightly tarnished.
