A men’s Roamer 9k gold watch, fitted with an in house movement and still in the original box.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the Birmingham hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this Roamer 9k watch to being assayed in 1961.
CONDITION
One of the reason we always like to try and find watches still in their boxes is because it normally means that teh watch was worn for best, and then stored away until next time. That appears to be the case here too. Until about 1975 Roamer made their own movements, branded MST, and they are sought after. The MST 401 in this watch was bought out in 1955, and featured shock protection (Hence INCABLOC on the dial). This example is running nicely. The silvered dial is quite clean, but does have one high spot near the centre. All the applied numerals are present. The case, solid 9k gold, is in good order and we have fitted a new leather strap with gold tone buckle. The case back does have a small dent. but this cannot be seen when the watch is on the wrist. The hard case is in good order with the patina of age.
This watch will be supplied with the original Roamer presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
