This men’s 1961 Longines has an interesting automatic movement and it includes a calendar window at twelve.  Model reference 2579.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1961.

CONDITION

We believe this model was a cheaper version of the Conquest, sacrificing a millimetre in case sign and with no claim to being water resistant.  That said, it is still a 1960’s Longines so it will not have been cheap and they are certainly well put together.  The case is all stainless steel, and a monobloc design where the movement is removed via the acrylic glass.  The movement Longines chose is their calibre 341, an off centre automatic with fine regulation that is all working well.  The dial looks to be original, and has even patina all over.  The hands are a syringe design and original too.  The cream Geckota leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.  The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
