Automatic ladies cocktail watches are rare enough, but this Eterna-Matic was retailed by Türler, the high end Zurich based retailer, who added their name to the dial.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1961.
CONDITION
Most ladies cocktail watches are manual wind, partly because it is hard to squeeze in a full rotor automatic movement into a petite case. The main competitor would have been Omega, with the Ladymatic range, but this Eterna was chosen by one of the well heeled of Zurich ahead of the Omega. The movement is Eterna’s own, calibre 1419U, which is working well, The case is gold plated, but very thick plating – most watches are 10 micron plated, and as quality rises 20 micron is most common. This Eterna-Matic is 80 micron plated, including the case back, and has the appearance of solid gold. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
