A stunning gold capped Eterna-Matic Chronometer that would have rivalled any Rolex Datejust or Omega Constellation.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1961.
CONDITION
A chronometer is the term used for a watch that has been tested to keep excellent time, and indeed there used to be chronometer competitions to see who could make the most accurate watches. Nowadays the acronym COSC is used and they are independently tested, but any watch with Chronometer on the dial should be good. Powering this watch is an Eterna 1422U automatic movement with quick set date, which is a peach, and it is running well. The case has a stainless steel body with heavy gold cap, and the bezel may be solid gold. There is no indication of the purity of the gold, but our guess would be 18k judging by the colour. The dial has the most amazing hour markers, that have incredible detail, and they elevate this watch to the next level alone. The second hand has some oxidisation on it if you look very closely, but looking that closely to any 60+ year old watch and you will find something. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
