This second generation Centenaire from Eterna has patina and an engraving which makes it unique.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can say this was made in 1961, the year this model was launched (the first generation was launched in 1956, Certina’s centenary). But the engraving on the case back shows this was engraved for a date in 1964. It could be the watch was made in 1961, and presented in 1964.
CONDITION
As prices of the Centenaire rise (although they are still behind some rivals such as the Omega Seamaster), the dial patina on this watch does help keep the price down. Some people will love it, others won’t, but at least we know it is original and has not been repainted. The Eterna calibre 1438U movement is keeping time, but a service would be recommended if the watch is to be worn regularly as the amplitude is low. The pull to set quickset date is working correctly. The stainless steel case has a few small marks to compliment the dial patination. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
