This Mercedes 14k gold men’s dress watch has nothing to do with the car company. Several companies used this brand name, including Gruen.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the long service inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being presented in 1960 by the Alblasserdam region in The Netherlands.
CONDITION
The watch is in very good shape. The AS 1220 movement has 21 jewels and a sweep central seconds hand. The 14k gold case has very few marks, and has the 0.585 hallmark on the case back (14k gold being 58.5% pure gold). The dial has some even patina that doesn’t detract from the clean design and dauphine hands. The leather strap is new, and has a gold tone buckle to complement the case.
