This 1960 9k gold Majex watch is housing a 21 jewel, manual wind movement that is all working well.  Never engraved.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the Edinburgh hall mark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1960.

CONDITION

Gold cased watches from the 1960’s were a very aspirational watch, and this is why they were often given as long service rewards.  Subsequently many are engraved with the details, which we like but not everyone does.  This case not only was never engraved, but is also in very good shape without dings or major scratches.  Some gold watches had very thin cases, so dent easily, but this was made by BWC (British Watch Cases) and is decent quality.  The dial has a few small marks, but these are offset by the nice applied hour markers including arrowheads on all the odd numbered hours, matched by an arrowhead on the seconds hand.  The AS1538 21 jewel movement is running well, and the brown leather strap is new – this watch has drilled lugs, making strap changing easier so if you wold prefer a black leather strap then just ask.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
