A classy, simple men’s gold 1959 Omega watch in great condition.  Model reference 2464

From the serial number on the movement, and the London hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1959 by two separate methods.

Sometimes simple is all you need.  This three handed men’s Omega may only tell the time, but it does it very well.  No date window to interrupt the symmetry of the dial, and no need to do anything more than set the time and wind if this is to be worn in rotation with other watches.  The watch is powered by Omega’s calibre 520, a 17 jewel, manual wind movement with a swan neck fine regulator.  Finished in copper, it is a very nice looking and performing movement.  The case is 9k / 0.375 gold and was made by DS&S for Omega – this was very common when tax on imported gold watches was very high.  DS&S would make the case to Omega’s specification and Omega would send the movement from Switzerland, thus legally avoiding the import duty.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with the an original Omega presentation box, and our Certificate of Authenticity.  The box arrived with this watch but may be later – we can not be 100% sure.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
