A nice Pobeda (Russian for Victory) men’s manual wind dress watch, in a good case.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in the 3rd quarter of 1958.

CONDITION

Soviet era watches provide one of the most affordable ways of getting a birth year watch, reliably knowing it is from the correct year.  But many have had hard lives, and the plating on the cases is damaged or worn away.  This one is in better than average condition.

The fifteen jewel movement starts with the first turn of the crown, and is running nicely.  It is unfair to say that the USSR watches are built like tanks, but they do tend to make Swiss watches look a bit weak!  This example was made in the 2nd Moscow watch factory, and is finished nicely with beveled and decorated bridges.  We can not identify the case material, but suspect it to be a steel alloy.  The bund type strap fitted here can be swapped for a more conventional strap if required.  The dial has a small area of green marks near the centre but is otherwise clean and these marks look far worse in the enlarged photos than in real life.  The gilt markers are a nice touch.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
