This Glaco watch was presented to a J. C. Crossley, a gift from Burnley Whist Club. Most people lost watches at cards, Mr Crossley gained one!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the inscription on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being engraved in February 1958.
CONDITION
While the game of Whist has a smaller following than in 1958, this Glaco should still appeal. Although the watch is not perfect, it is still nice. The chromed case has a few marks, and the dial has a dent near four, but that shows the watch was worn and appreciated. The bracelet was a Fixo-Flex expanding type, but we have swapped this for a nice new leather item – those expanding bracelets not only pull wrist hairs, but also are very difficult to clean effectively. Inside the case is a manually wound AS1200 movement with fifteen jewel, which is running fine. Glaco were a sub brand of Gallet, the highly respected maker of great chronographs, so this Swiss watch has good pedigree.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
