This 1958 Eterna-Matic pocket watch is possibly the nicest pocket watch we have ever had, and an automatic with calendar!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1958.
CONDITION
The watch is in absolutely superb condition, with just minimal light storage marks. There are others like this about, but we can not find any original marketing material for this. We wonder if it was a sales demonstration piece to show how the automatic rotor works, as exhibition casebacks were not common until 30 years later? It is possible, as Eterna were rightly proud of their movements. The case back allows you to see the five ball bearing rotor that Eterna patented, and those five ball bearings continue to be the Eterna logo to date. The movement is their calibre 1424U, which not only has a calendar but this is quick set by pulling out the crown (which is also signed with the five bearing logo). The watch has a place to hang the watch at 6, so it would hang up side down normally but if worn as a pendant it makes it easier to read. This is an Eterna-Matic to compliment any watch collection.
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
