HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1958.
CONDITION
Normally when you see extra names on dials it is the retailer, so you may find Rolex watches co signed with Cartier (if you are lucky). But Kurth Frères is a reference to the brothers who founded Certina (and Grana) back in 1888.
The movement in this watch in the Certina 28-151, a 17 jewel manual winding movement with semi quick set date. It is running well and like most Certina watches of this period it is beautifully finished. The case appears to be chrome plated, with a stainless steel case back, and this has been cleaned. We have fitted a new leather strap and a new acrylic crystal. The dial does have marks, as shown in the photos, but it is also original and we prefer original with patina over repainted every day.
