This gold men’s Roamer Premier has a BWC case and the in house MST 424 manual winding movement. And what is left of the original box!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the Edinburgh hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1956.
CONDITION
Let’s start with the worst part. The box is falling to bits, as shown in the video, but this is a cardboard box from the 1950’s so should not be expected to have survived at all. After that, everything else is good. The case was made by British Watch Cases (BWC), and is in good shape with little signs of wear. The size shows it would have originally been a man’s watch, but would nowadays suit either gender. The MST 424 manual wind movement is clean and working well – pre 1975 Roamer made their own, very nice movements. Unusually this watch has a signed crown, which not only wasn’t common in the fifties but it is rare that the crown on a manually wound watch survives in such good condition. It can be an indicator that the watch was not worn much. The case back has never been engraved which is a bonus when it was quite common on these Premier models to give them as long service awards, and the leather strap is new.
