From the first year of production, this is an unrepeatable chance to get the best Eterna Centenaire available in the World.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can date this watch to being made in 1956, one hundred years after Eterna was founded. This is why the Centenaire name was chosen. It is possible the movement was made in 1955 ready for the product launch in 1956.
CONDITION
We do not make claims such as the best available lightly, but it is difficult to imagine a better example of this fine watch. The case is close to perfect, and is in heavy gold capping. The screw on case back doesn’t have any tool marks, and still has the red paint in the caseback engraving. The crown and buckle are both marked withthe Eterna five ball bearing logo, and the strap is stamped Eterna too. The dial is the cleanest you will ever find, and features nice arrow head hour markers. The lume is still present in the hands. The calibre 1429U came out in 1955, and immediately it stood out as the thinnest automatic watch movement available. Naturally it was the first choice for the model designed to celebrate the companies centenary. The only thing we could say in any negative capacity about this watch is that the box is likely to be later. But the watch itself is museum quality.
This watch will be supplied with a likely later Eterna presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
