This Bulova Clipper has fantastic horned lugs on its gold filled case. $59.50 back in 1955!
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back and also repeated on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1955.
CONDITION
The black dial on this watch is very attractive, but it has been repainted black and is not factory original. This will put some people off, and others will prefer this to the cream dialed Clipper’s available elsewhere. All we can do is make you aware so you can make your choice. The hands are original, as is the signed crown, and you can compare this watch to the ones listed on this website. The movement is Bulova’s own calibre 10CBAC, a 17 jewel automatic, and is running really well. It has been protected by the case, that was designed to be waterproof, and the movement has stayed very clean. The leather strap is new.. The horned lugs are the most striking feature of this watch, and make it feel larger than it actually is. The case has very light wear, and that is because it’s 10k rolled gold, which is far thicker than gold plate. This was a robust watch, as shown in this advert for a similar Clipper being sent of Niagara Falls!
