This men’s Rolex Oysterdate Precision has the waffle dial and red calendar wheel. Model reference 6294.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number between the bottom lugs and the production stamp on the inside of the case back both agree that this watch was made in 1953.
CONDITION
The prices for stainless steel Rolex models seem to be increasing monthly, and while the Oysterdate hasn’t and likely won’t go ballistic like Submariners and Daytona models it is still a highly desirable watch. You still get a oyster case, with screw down crown (signed on this watch). The movement is an in house Rolex 17 jewel manual wind calibre 740, which is working well. This also has a date function, which on this watch has a red calendar wheel with open 6 and 9’s. The dial is original and has a waffle pattern pressed onto it. For a point in the mid fifties Rolex fitted an applied logo on their dials, like this one, before reverting to just printing the logo. Also fitted to this dial is arrowhead hour markers, which look good. There are some marks on the dial, as shown in the photos and video. The vintage style leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
