This Uno watch has hallmarks for the 9k gold case in 1953, and an inscription for 1957 on the case back. 15 jewel hand wound movement.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We can date this to being made in or shortly after 1953 from the Birmingham hallmarks in the case, or to 1957 from the inscription on the watch back. Either date could be considered valid, but the 1957 one is more obvious.
Fair. The dial is foxed, but quite evenly, and the solid gold case has a couple of dents that might be able to be removed by a jeweller if needed. The watch is running and setting well. What is very nice is the inscription for 29 years hard work at the same employer, MB Ltd (we can’t find out anything about this company, but would be happy to hear information on them). Fitted to an extra long leather strap which has been worn but, like the watch, has plenty of life left in it.
Approximately 29.0mm wide including the crown, 8.9mm thick. Takes a 16mm strap.
