Original box and papers! Featured on Hodinkee
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We can date this to 1953 from the serial number on the watch movement, or from 1st January 1955 form the original certificate of origin and guarantee. 1953 was Tissots centenary.
CONDITION
It is extremely rare to find a set like this from 60 years ago. The plastic (or possibly bakelite?) box is perfect, with no chips. The stamped and perforated paperwork is very good, and the watch itself has also been cared for. The hands have lose some of the lume and couldbe replaced, but we have not done this to keep the originality correct. The crown is marked with the Tissot logo, as is the buckle. The nearly new leather strap is marked Tissot too. For an old watch this is also a very wearable size. Try and find another like this!
