A beautiful Longines 18k calatrava style dress watch from when Longines were at their absolute peak. Model reference 6287
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1952.
CONDITION
If this Longines 18k watch doesn’t make your heart flutter then I am not sure you should be allowed on this website! Let’s start with the case – a rich, deep gold colour and stamped Longines 18k on the inside of the caseback, along with the Swiss hallmark. It is free from any major damage, and the case back has just a few light dents which can not be seen when on the wrist. The movement is the Longines calibre 27M, a manually wound 17 jewel affair and a treat to wind and set. If you look closely you will see the jewels are set into chantons, which are only found on high end movements. Then the dial – one of the nicest we have ever seen! Not only is the classic design in very clean condition, but there is a wonderful guilloche pattern to the outer edge and a not but very subtle swirl to the centre. To top it off we have the signed crown and a likely more modern Longines gold plated buckle, plus a Longines box. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
