A larger than average Trebex 9k gold watch for the period.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the Edinburgh hall mark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1951.

CONDITION

Most watches of this period, especially when cased with precious metals, are 31-33 mm wide without the crown.  This Trebex is unusual in the 35mm case, and it actually feels larger than that due to the 16mm lugs giving the impression of a larger case.  The case was made by British Watch Cases (BWC), and the Swiss movement would have been fitted in the UK.  The engraving on the back is a little worn, and doesn’t include the details of why Mr Hodgson was awarded this watch but it was often for long service.  The 15 jewel manual wind movement is running well, and has a good power reserve.  The dial has some slight patina but nothing too distracting.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
