An in house 21 jewel Certina automatic movement, set in a Staybrite water resistant case.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1950.

CONDITION

The dial does have some patina, but it is even and doesn’t stop you reading the script on the dial.  But at least the dial is original and has nice aroow head markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9.  The hands are filled with lume.  The case is Staybrite, a brand name of one of the earlier developments of corrosion free steel.  The Certina 28-45 movement is beautifully finished, and features nice touches such as micro regulation for timing.  What records that are available suggest this movement is from 1953 onwards, which contradicts the case reference number from 1953.  But Certina stopped using the cursive script logo that features on both the movement and caseback on 1953, so we have our suspicions that the information on the movement might not be 100% accurate.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a black leather strap if preferred.
