A long service award P Buhre wristwatch, inscribed by Imperial Chemical Industries.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the inscription from ICI on the caseback we can accurately date this watch to 1949.
The dial is dirty, but you can still clearly read both lines of text that say “THE GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS CO LTD” and P. BUHRE. This watch was awarded for long service at Imperial Chemicals (ICI), as depicted on the case back. The P Buhre brand has a long and interesting history, more of which can be read about here.
The case is good, solid stainless steel with faceted and drilled lugs. The watch is keeping good time, wears, sets and winds well. It is on an expanding bracelet that may be original to the watch, that we have cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. If you would prefer a leather strap then we can do that for no extra cost. The lumed hands are in very good condition, and the screw down back on the case is a sign of quality.
Approximately 35.7 mm wide including the unsigned crown, 10.5 mm thick. Takes a 16 mm strap. The bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of approximately 180 mm.
£149 including 3 months guarantee and free delivery to UK addresses.
