A very early Omega Seamaster, in a stainless steel case housing a fully serviced bumper automatic movement.  Model reference CK2576-6

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in circa 1948/1949.  But Omega’s own website list this model as available from 1949 – see here.

CONDITION

The watch has now returned from service and had a new Omega crown fitted.  The photos are now updated, but we have left the video showing the watch in the original condition.

Omega launched the Seamaster in 1948, so this watch is very early in the production.  The cases were available in gold, gold capped and Stainless Steel like this one.  The dial is original, and does show some patina.  The hands are also original, and the Radium lume is dirty but on one piece.  The case is straight and without major damage, and it also appears to be unpolished  – the original bevels on the lugs are clearly visible.  The case back washer is correct and in place – these were critical and the later models used to remind the watch maker to replace the washer.  The case back shows the Seamaster word on the back clearly, and inside are all the correct markings including the model number CK2576.  The strap is new, and can be swapped for a different colour if needed.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
